Who this is between
Compound is made and run by Stewart Christensen, an individual developer. Using the app means accepting what is on this page. If you do not, delete the app — and if you have an account, delete that too; it takes two taps and is described in the privacy policy.
This is not medical advice
Compound prescribes sets, reps and weights, and estimates how much you might eat. It is a training tool, not a doctor, a physiotherapist or a dietitian, and nothing it says is a diagnosis, a treatment or a medical opinion. It does not know your medical history, and the injuries you enter are used to leave movements out of a plan, not to assess anything.
Talk to a qualified professional before starting or changing how you train or eat, particularly if you are pregnant, recovering from an injury or illness, or managing a condition. Stop if something hurts. Lifting weights carries a risk of injury that no app removes, and you take that on yourself.
The numbers are estimates
Opening weights are worked out from what you have lifted before. Calorie and macronutrient targets are worked out from your height, weight, age and goal weight with a standard equation, and a photograph of a meal is read by a model that is sometimes wrong. All of it is a starting point to be adjusted by someone who can feel the weight and see the plate — which is you. Every figure in the app can be typed over.
Your account
You need an account, because the point of the app is that your training follows you between devices. Keep your password to yourself; anything done with your account is treated as done by you. One account is for one person — sharing it will make the plan worse, since it is built from one training history.
You must be 13 or older to have an account, and if you are under 18 you should be training with the knowledge of a parent or guardian.
What you put in
What you log is yours. You give permission to store it and to send what is needed to write your plan or read your meal — set out exactly in the privacy policy — and nothing beyond that. It is not published, sold or used to train anybody's model.
Do not use the app to store anything you have no right to, and do not attempt to break, overload or work around the server or other people's accounts.
What we put in
The app, its exercise library and its demonstration clips are either ours or licensed to us. You may use them inside the app. You may not copy, extract, resell or redistribute them.
Nothing is sold in the app
Compound has no subscription, no purchases and no advertising. If that changes, the terms will change with it and you will be told before it takes effect.
It may break, and it may stop
The app is provided as it is. It is run by one person, on services that occasionally fail, and no promise is made that it will always be available or always correct. Keep anything you would hate to lose somewhere other than one app — this one included.
To the extent the law allows, liability for loss arising from using Compound is limited to what you have paid for it, which is nothing. None of this limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Ending it
You can stop at any time by deleting your account in the app. An account may be closed for using the app to attack the service or other people, in which case you will be told at the address on the account.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and anything that materially affects you is sent to your account's address before it takes effect.
Law, and getting in touch
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. If something here needs sorting out, email stewart@growthengines.us first — most things are a conversation rather than a dispute.
